ADAM, EVE, and EASTER

ADAM, EVE, and EASTER

Adam and Eve were quickly disappointed by the outcome of their sin. Prior to sin they “were both naked, and they felt no shame” (Genesis 2:25). After sin, they experienced feelings they had never experienced before: FEAR, NAKEDNESS, and SHAME. For the first time in their life, they were afraid of the sound of God’s presence and felt the need to hide from Him (Gen 3:10). From the moment they sinned, the relationship between God and Man was never the same.

God had told Adam and Eve that if they touched or ate from that tree they would die” (Gen 2:17, 3:2). Because of their sin, death entered the world (Gen 3:19, 22). However, God still had love and concern for them. God showed his redemptive grace towards them by shedding the blood of an animal and using the skins to clothe Adam and Eve. Because of God, they were no longer naked and their shame was covered.

To this day, we still see the impact sin has in the life of man. Romans 3:23-24 states, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Romans 6:23 states “For the wages of sin is death”. But just as God showed his grace towards Adam and Eve, he has shown his grace towards us. In 1 Peter 1:18-19 the scripture tells us that we are saved from the judgement of God, through the blood of Christ. Romans 5:8-9 tells us that while we were still sinners God showed his love towards us by shedding the blood of Jesus Christ.

The blood of Jesus saves us from the wrath of God. It is through Jesus’ death and resurrection that we are reconciled to God. John 3:16 states “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life”. The wages of sin is death, but because of the blood of Jesus, we can choose eternal life.

Just as God shed the blood of an animal to cover the sin and shame of Adam and Eve, He shed the blood of Jesus, his only Son, to cover our sin and shame. Because of the blood of Jesus, we can have forgiveness, be in the presence of God and in relationship with God.

As believers in the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, every Christian has this testimony:

God loved me so much that he shed the blood of his only Son. I have eternal life because of the blood of Jesus. Because Jesus lives, I have the gift of the Holy Spirit and relationship with God.

What is your testimony? The choice to accept God’s gift is yours to make. Easter is for you.
